Anamorphic lens flare for your photos, free

Anamorphic lenses squeeze a wide picture onto film and stretch it back on the screen — and their flares stretch with it into long horizontal streaks, most often blue from the coatings. It is the single most recognisable "this is a movie" artefact.

DialsThresholdStreakLengthHue

The Anamorphic Flare look finds the bright points in your photo and draws those streaks from them, with the colour, length and softness of the real thing.

How to use it

  1. Open the tool and drop in a photo with bright points — street lights, the sun, a window.
  2. Set Threshold for which highlights flare, Streak for how strong, and Length for how far it reaches.
  3. Pick a Hue — blue is the classic, but amber and white exist too.
  4. Export, or apply it to a video clip.

FAQ

Why are anamorphic flares horizontal?

Anamorphic lenses have cylindrical elements that squeeze the image horizontally; flares are stretched by the same optics, so they spread sideways.

Does it work on video?

Yes — the flare follows the lights as the clip plays; export as MP4.

Is it free?

Yes, free with no account.
